the 7 day popular in my list shows all time popular instead of 7 days. I have enabled the 7 day popular option from the theme panel (Theme Panel -> Post Settings -> USE 7 DAYS POST SORTING)

Is there some avice regarding this matter?

Thank you

Hi,

Please note that this feature, when enabled, it pulls and puts together the top most viewed posts that have been viewed in the last 7 days so it does not matter if a specific post added in a block it’s 5 or 6 or 7 years old as long as it has been the most viewed post from last 7 days. Also you have to enable post view for this feature to work properly.

Thanks!

Unfortunatelly it contains posts that haven’t been viewed recently.

The website is a test site where only I and another person know about. The 7 day recent posts are popular posts with many clicks that we have done mostly during February 2015. For new clicks on new posts they are not comming up the list, unless they contain more clicks that the currently (old) popular posts that stay in our list since February.

Hi,

Please make sure you also have the post views active and also test this without using caches as the last days 7 post count works based on post views so if you use cache this might not work properly.
Also test this by editing one of your posts and check if you have the 7 days custom filed active, like this: http://screencast.com/t/HUBUJQI6uLI ..then refresh the post a few times and check if it increments.
If it’s working then test the 7 days post sorting again as it should work fine and keep in mind that the 7 days post sorting feature pulls the most viewed posts from last 7 days (all time, not only those created in the last 7 days).

Thanks

I import my articles with wp-all-import-pro from our articles server.
As I noted, when I import a new post, it has

post_views_count = 0
and no other custom fields.

if I view the post this changes to
post_views_count = 1
post_views_count_7_day_total = 2
post_view_7days_last_day = 1

Should I assign the custom fields post_views_count_7_day_total and post_view_7days_last_day with some initial value on my article when I import the article from wp-all-import-pro?

thanks

Hi,

Using the importer doesn’t add views (update the views/pop 7 days post custom filed ). The views custom fields are added by the theme so the count starts when viewing the post for the first time.

You don’t need to assign any initial value for the 7 days post count. The count starts after the first view of the post and updates after each view, then based on those field values the 7 days post sorting feature will sort your posts.

Thanks
