ACF to SCF

Hello,

Should we update the ACF plugin, it says after the update it’ll be renamed to Secure Custom Fields. Will this update break my website?

SCF is direct replacement for ACF free. Works the same. patches issues with ACF FREE.

Should I update the acf (scf) plugin from the wordpress dashboard or is it better to download it manually from the acf website? Which one is safer so that my website doesn’t break.

Hi, Maybe you can give us all some advice. Since a lot of your directory themes and other themes depend of ACF. Which direction will Divtag go?

a) SCF and stick to auto downloads with the repo, and any Pro version they might bring out in the future.

OR

B) Stick to ACF and download manually, and stick with ACF Pro ?

Which way will Divtag go? and hence which way should we follow…

Could you please confirm that switching back to the ACF plugin is safe and won’t cause any database issues? I’m not very confident in fixing things if something goes wrong. I’ve put a lot of effort into building my site with the Doctors plugin, but unfortunately, this new false version of the ACF plugin isn’t working properly. The site is currently running reasonably well, so I’m happy to wait and take my time to make the transition back in a safe and controlled way. Thank you so much for your help!

Be sure to check the official ACF website for FAQs on the two iterations, the offcial ‘real’ one and the hijacked one in the WordPress plugin directory.

The them has nothing to do with the ACF issue and no control over it.

We switched back to the official ACF with zero issues here. For our ACF Pro plugins there are no issues.

Once you move to the updated official version you won’t need to manually update it again. The free version will have updates the same way the pro version does, directly from ACF.

How to Update ACF
In order to update your site’s version of ACF and receive updates in the future, please follow these steps:

Download the latest zip of the plugin
Log in to your site
Navigate to Plugins > Add new
Upload the zip file
Confirm you want to overwrite the existing ACF plugin
Future updates for the plugin will be available in the WordPress admin as normal
