Because I got no reaction on this topic I want to mention it here.
After importing pro default design WITHOUT CONTENT some of my categories (about 5 ) were deleted.
Post were all in standard category and I had to find out where they belong.
Luckily I had a backup.
I was finally updating by exporting my post and categories and after import the pro design importing post and categories.
Only thing which was corrpted was the site menu which was based also on the disapearing categories.

When importing a demo with content it will add post, pages, and categories, when disabling the demo that content will be removed. The content is created just so you can have an idea on how your website will look in the end.

The only way this could happen is this example:
Install a demo with content, edit the content and category names and after let’s say 1 year, you import another demo without content. Once installing a new demo the old one will get uninstalled.
We have made many tests in this matter and this is the only moment when we experienced the same issue presented by you.
