Ad Placement

I am trying to get an ad placed after my social share buttons, but I do not see an option for that in the newspaper theme page nor in the plugin I am using.

I do not have comments enabled, which would make it an option for ad inserter plug in, but I would have too much spam.

I am thinking I can place it at a specific spot in the post page code, but I have no idea which template that is in the template.

If you can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hello STBW,

Unfortunately, please notice that our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to add in that place of post your desired ad, sorry! For example, if you are using the post template style 1, you should edit the theme core file where this template was written and add there through do_shortcode method the ad you want, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/xdKEJdFd5orl After this, ensure that you have added your ad in the Custom Ad 1 field from Theme panel, Ads, section.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the message!

So, just to be sure, because I am a complete tech idiot, if I add that code into the template where you are showing, it will then place the ad, as long as I have the ad code in the Custom Ad box, directly below the social buttons at bottom of post?

Hello STBW,

Yes, you should add your Ad in the Custom Ad 1 if you want to display that add in the place where you have added the do_shortcode.

So, did what you said, and it moved the ad spot down perfectly, but for some reason, it is creating a block ad rather than a banner that wanted. The code is for a 650*250 banner and on the customization under Custom Ad 1, I even changed the setting for desktop to 640*300 but it is still creating a block ad. Any idea??

Hello STBW,

You should provide your website URL so I can check your Ads and also, you should provide some useful screenshots for a better understanding.

Thanks for the message!

Here is a link to an article

http://www.dallasconservativenews.com/senator-cruz-gonna-promised/

If you look towards the bottom of the article under the social share buttons, you will see the ad to which I am referring. I tried to ad a screenshot, but it would not let me attach a file in the message.

That ad is also NOT showing up on mobile for some reason, which is killing my RPM.

Hello STBW,

I have inspected your website on mobile mode and the Ad which is placed below the Article Top Sharing, it seems to work as expected, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/sePdZ4cBVXa9 Where is the problem?

Thanks for your understanding!

That is not the ad we have been discussing. The ad in question is the ad at the bottom of the article AFTER the social share button after the content.

The same ad you gave me the code to place in this thread. It is there on desktop, but not on mobile.

I was having a few issues with placing ads as well and found the following plugin fixed my problems https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/ad-inserter/

Though the ad options that come with the theme are good, it doesn’t have the ability to filter ads, not show ads on pages with less than ‘x’ words… etc.

I have that already in place on the site but I used the code given to me to place an ad below the share button, as that was not an option with the ad inserter.

Now, the ads are not showing up on mobile and when deleted the code to place an ad using the plugin before the social button, it would not show up.

Considering most of my traffic is mobile, this is creating a pretty significant problem for me at this point.

About 65% of our traffic is from Mobile as well. I’ve tried a million things but finally I just put one add half way through the content… another at the end of the article on mobile. I’ve went from 3 ads to 2 ads on the desktop version of the site with NO change to revenue. In that case I have one ad at the bottom of the content… one on the right hand nav

The problem with that placement is it decreases the amount of social shares you get on the website, which reduces traffic.

I just removed the alternative code for the time being and place the ad back above the social shares because that bottom ad is the biggest money maker on the site.

I guess I will try and replace it with rev content or something similar at a later date.
