Add Comment Count for Disqus & Facebook

After experiencing the problem myself and searching through the forum I found out that Newspaper only supports the native comment system. But honestly, who uses the native comment system?

Would it be possible for TagDiv to add support for Disqus and Facebook (and perhaps even other systems) so that the comment count is shown properly for them? There are countless of other themes that do support other commenting systems, why not Newspaper?

All WP themes read the comment count data from the WP dbase; it’s up to the comment plugin to ‘write’ that info to the dbase. Disqus does that, but it doesn’t seem to work on the author page, but does on the post pages themselves, I found when I used it. Facebook is loaded on FB’s system so not really technically possible without setting up some API hooks which is outside normal scope of theme.

I don’t work here -just some feedback.

Theme has worked fine with Disqus since 2013, so not an issue as long as you setup the sync properly to save data into your WP install — not managed by theme. Again, only issue is the comments count on ‘author page’ template; which can be removed from the template. May not work on modules, but I always turned that off as I thought it served no purpose and used system resources.

Food for thought anyway.
