Hello. Can you tell me how I can get a google translate plugin in my header area? I have a plugin downloaded for it but I cannot figure out how to get it in the header area.

Unfortunately we have not tested any translate plugins with our theme so we have no idea on their implementation.
Most plugins can make use of a shortcode. You can use a do_shortcode function: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/do_shortcode/

Is there an area in the theme settings where we can add html or any text to the header area?
Also can you explain how your translate feature works? Does it automatically test a user’s computer language preference and ask them if they want to translate? And if so does that work for every browser?

There is a custom html box in the theme panel , but the code will not be added to the header ares: http://screencast.com/t/OcbgRkdyeypD If you want to target the header area, you will have to alter the theme files and edit header.php from the main folder of the theme.
The translate area from the theme panel does not detect the language. It’s a simple languange change for elements that cannot be targeted by the wordpress language change. It’s not dynamic. What you set is what others will see.
If you want to be able to switch languages, then maybe you can use a plugin like qtranslate x
