When I attempt to upload a favicon logo, Newsmag defaults to http instead of https. How can I force an https request for the logo image? If I have to hardcode, would you mind sharing what file to search for in the theme code?

Just paste the full URL to the image into the box and then hit update.
When I enter the URL with https, the change does not save. Any ideas?

Thank you for your post and the screenshots. Please see my previous post. When I complete this process, the check mark appears, and the update seems to occur; however, when I leave the theme panel and return, no update has been made, meaning that the link does not update to https.
When I click “upload” and go to my media library to select a logo or favicon, the link that appears in the source field appears as http. I select the image and change the text that appears in the field to “https://….”
Any ideas? I greatly appreciate your help.
Did you add https URL to your website to your wp-config.php file to show the full path to website explicitly? This is super important when changing your site from http to https, I’ve found.
Yes. Both define functions for the home URL and site URL have been updated to https.
It concerns me that the theme panel doesn’t update once I save my changes. Any ideas here?

One presumes that you did a search/replace in your dbase for all instances of http://yoursite to https://yoursite.
I did have this issue on one site, now that I think of it. It was due to opcache in php, actually.
In our case solution was:
A) upload newly named logo
B) paste in the new URL to new logo in the logo box
C) scroll down and click SAVE.
That worked.
As to being ‘unable to save’ — that is often a javascript problem. Or, on iOS Safari the internet cache needs to be deleted (for those nutty folk managing their websites on their phones!).
Also note for the favicons, you don’t need to actually put them in the theme panel. Simply having them in the root of your website public folder will be found by all mobile and desktop browsers. So, ideally you’d do a set of icons in correct sizes/formats and simply place in your home/root directory — browsers get them automatically, and always have.
