Adding Icon or image to header menu item

Hi,

I know that you can change a header menu item to an icon. I have two questions:

1) How can you add more menu icons to choose from?

2) How can you modify it so that the icon, or maybe even a small image, will be shown beside the menu text? This is so an icon and the menu text will be visible at the same time.
