Is there any easy way to use the M12 articles display view on a custom page? I really like having the photos that large, but I can’t figure out how to make them that large using the existing VC blocks and modules that come with the theme…

As you can see modules m12 and 13 are not used in any block. This means that you can only use them directly as a module (as a loop) This means you can use it on the homepage only in the latest articles section: loop settings: http://screencast.com/t/EjTL6v9n1
