Adding pages to blocks

Firstly I would like to thank you for the excellent theme. I am very new to WordPress, but the ease of use and simplicity of Newspaper has helped a lot.

I have a quick question, which is probably quite basic but, as I say, I’m new to all this.

When I create a home page with a set of blocks displaying articles, I can see how you can set it up to show certain posts, for example featured ones, or ones of a certain category. I understand this much. However, can you do the same for pages? What I would like to do is have some visual images on my home page which take me to other pages, such as a ‘reviews’ page, or an ‘about us’ page. I can do this as images with links, but it would be much neater to do it in the same way as posts, using featured images. Is this possible?

this can be done by modifying the source of the theme.
but i advice you to take the solution with images with links

Will the images and links option have any negative affect on my site with regard to performance or SEO (i.e. is this against best practice, or is it OK to work in this way)?

i do use a plugin that enables me to assign a category for a page.

now when i use block 3 or block 4 the pages show up just like posts – with ONE BIG problem.

when i click on the nex prev ajax arrows – it starts to reload, BUT nothing shows up.
