Hi,
Possible to add static content to front/home page where the dynamic content resides via shortcodes or normal text input or I have to always use widgets?

Yes you can use static content on pages/templates using tagDiv Composer and you can use column text element -> https://www.screencast.com/t/QcOdTEPtT
