I made some pagespeed benchmarks on our website today and saw that the amp version of an article loads fonts we do not use, like “plugins/td-composer/mobile/images/icons/mobile-theme.woff” or “/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/newspaper.woff”. On top of that we would like to improve rendering by settings @font-face with font-display: swap, which we did successfully on the non-amp version.
I would like to know, how can we remove “plugins/td-composer/mobile/images/icons/mobile-theme.woff” and “/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/newspaper.woff” from the amp code? Also I would like to add custom @font-face definitions with “font-display: swap” on the amp version, is this possible?

That font file is used for all the icons that is in the mobile theme. Unfortunately that file shouldn’t be touched because it will affect your website appearance.

if the fonts cannot (or shouldn’t) be removed, how can I add “font-display: swap” to all the @font-face styles in the theme? It would be great if you could do this in an update of the theme so it is optimized for pagespeed.
There are a lot of other minor things, that this theme can do, e.g. set an explicit width and height on image elements to reduce layout shifts and improve CLS (logo in header and footer).

Font swap will apply only on text fonts. You can try and insert it directly into the code here: https://i.imgur.com/4HQFkx6.png
For the logo width and height has been added in the latest update. I have sent this to our developers, Any input from the users is taken in consideration to move forward with an optimized Newspaper Theme.
