Ads Not Showing on Mobile

My website is using a plugin called “CM Ad Changer” by Creative Minds. Their plugin is great because all my ads are hosted in one place and then I can use shortcodes to show those ads on all 3 of my websites. HOWEVER, They seem to be conflicting with the Newsmag theme, specifically when viewing the theme on mobile/tablet mode.

Below is an image of the area where the adbox should be showing an ad. This screenshot was taken on an iPad Mini using Safari. I have activated the dev-tools for Safari to highlight the area. As you can see, the margin seems to be doing something very strange, and for some reason the ad isn’t showing up.

The next image is a dev site. It’s missing most of the images from this site, but the database, theme files and everything else are identical. On this site, the adboxes work perfectly, they show the ads and the margins aren’t messed up.

As you can see, eventhough everything is the same (minus the unattached images), the ads are working just fine. Anyone have any suggestions for how to troubleshoot this? or run into this kind of issue before?

Thanks,
Jordan

Hello ntvweb,

I have inspected your website and I saw that you have some errors in your console, it is not using the latest theme version and also, you are using some untested plugins, like cm ad changer, which can interact with the theme core files and cause a lot of unknown issues. You should disable all of them, leave just required plugins to be active, clear all the caches and check the results. If you want to bring best theme results, I suggest you make a new clean install from scratch via FTP and update your theme to the latest theme version.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Disabling plugins on a live news website is simply not an option. Further, I did create a clone of the site and the ads worked perfectly without updating any theme files. That is why I’m confused. Why would the ads be messed up on one site, but on the clone site be fine?

Hello ntvweb,

I have inspected your dev.ntv.ca website and I saw that your ads work as expected but the featured images are not loaded as expected, as you can see here – >
https://www.screencast.com/t/lcosu77F The links of your featured images seems to be broken. Check your media library and try to fix them.

Thanks for your understanding!

Yes I am currently in the process of fixing that. When I did the clone to my dev site, the 30+ GBs of images couldn’t come with the clone. Do you think this could have an effect on the ads? perhaps a featured image is causing the weird ads?

Hello ntvweb,

Please keep in mind that your images should not affect your ads if you are using Google Adsense. If you are using other ads, composed of custom images, it may not appear if the images used in the ad have not been loaded. For more information about our Google Adsense System and the way of using other ads, please consult the following documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-header-ads/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-using-other-ads/

Hope this helps!

Hello,

We do not use Adsense. I’m using the custom ad system AdChanger. We went with that system because the ads are stored offsite and do not need to be stored on the server. Whats confusing is that eventhough these sites are direct clones of each other (even down to the file system), the ads work perfectly on one site and dont work on the other. That is what really boggles my mind, and I cannot find any logical reason for this change.

Hello ntvweb,

You should contact the Ad provider, tell the problem and request them for an answer in this regard. They should be able to provide a more accurate response than us being the ad provider. Notice that the theme only takes the Ad Code and do not change the structure of the ads. Only display it.

Thanks for your understanding!
