Ajax filter on a 'Block' prioritised over primary filter

Hi, I am using ‘Block 11’ and trying to filter a primary category (News) then set the ajax menu to sort secondary categories that I am treating as subordinate (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France). I assumed it would show/filter a list of posts categorized as News and sorted into menu options as All, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

When I use the settings below, the primary category filter no longer works and ‘Block 11’ shows posts from another primary category (Sport) so I see anything categorized as Sport and Australia, New Zealand, etc in the list as well. The ajax seems to be taking priority over the primary filter.

Category Filter – [News]

Ajax Categories Dropdown
Filter Type – [Filter by Categories]
Show the Following IDs – [2, 3, 4, 5] (In this case Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France)

Is this working as intended or have I missed a setting somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, does the Ajax categories dropdown also work if we add a second type of filter which is a filter by tag slug ?
Let me explain :
On the first block on this page https://devenirbilingue.com/promotions-reductions-apprendre-langue/ I’d like to show all posts from multiple categories with the tag “promotion”. I used the filters ans it works. However, I tried to use “Ajax categories dropdown” with a filter by tag ID (several languages tags to offer a selection of the posts for each language). If I click on English I should see the post with the tag english, which are part of the multiple categories selected for this block, and which have also the tag Promotion. The result is different: I can see all posts with the tag English, from the multiple categories I chose, but the filter Promotion is not taken into account any more.
Is it because I cannot use the Ajax categories dropdown with multiple categories filter AND a tag filter ?
