Hi,
I have gotten some messages from people letting me know that my website (danielpaulchristie.com) has been looking strange on mobile. I tried to deal with the issue but now I have a mess.
I tried some things with the AMP plugin, which made matters worse, so I deleted the AMP plugin because it was working fine before this. This has not resolved the issue. In an incognito window, this is my home page (https://prnt.sc/mxeim1) and an example post (https://prnt.sc/mxejck), which I can see in my browser as (https://prnt.sc/mxek16) and (https://prnt.sc/mxekhe) respectively.
I’m not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Daniel
Hi,
I checked the website in incognito on mobile, looks alright at the moment
– http://prntscr.com/mxrb9j – http://prntscr.com/mxrckc
I browsed it for a while on mobile, but everything seems in order. I used Chrome when I checked. Is it happening on a specific browser maybe?
Thanks
Thanks, Simion!
I actually deleted the Mobile Theme plugin (after getting rid of the AMP didn’t help). So when you were looking at it, that was without either plugin installed or activated. Doing that “fixed” things.
I have reinstalled and activated both, so you can see the issue. I think it’s okay on a mobile (from what I see), but they somehow mess up things on my desktop (e.g., https://danielpaulchristie.com/dealing-with-discouragement/)
I wonder if you could help me with some smaller related ones. These are why I actually started fooling around with the Mobile Theme and AMP settings and messed things ups.
(1) My font doesn’t carry over for formats, and I don’t know why. Here is a screenshot of it on my phone (https://prnt.sc/my2uoe) vs. on my desktop (https://prnt.sc/my2tfm). This applies on a normal browser or incognito for both respectively, so it doesn’t seem to be cache. (This wasn’t fixed by uninstalling the plugins.)
(2) I don’t know why the blockquotes/box quotes come out different on the desktop (https://prnt.sc/my2tys) vs. mobile (https://prnt.sc/my2uqg). I can’t find separate settings, so I thought they were under the same one (theme panel >> theme fonts >> post content). They are in caps and way too big for the mobile, so I would like to change that. Right now the desktop format is really wide because of the other issue with the plugins, but you can see it is in normal case.
Thanks,
Daniel
It looks like the theme stylesheet is not loading for some reason. The whole website looks broken on all devices. Before anything else this should be fixed, then I will help you with the other issues.
Please deactivate all plugins except theme plugins, leave only the theme plugins including the mobile theme and AMP active. If you made any modifications to the theme files or added code in them remove them temporarily. Also check all code entered in the theme panel. If you use a child theme switch to the main theme. Then check if this has any effect.
In case the website is still broken, you could reinstall the theme. Either by WordPress or by FTP. Let me know the results.
I deactivated all the other plugins and there was no change. So I switched the theme, deleted Newspaper 9 and the plugins, reinstalled it and the plugins, and uploaded it. Everything is still a mess…even more so.
I’m really out of my depth here, so not sure what to do. I’ll just leave it for now and wait for further instructions.

Actually the issue I mentioned above is fixed now. Seems reinstalling the theme solved it, but from what I can see the 9.0.1 theme version is now installed. Is the problem happening when you install the latest 9.6 theme?
If you want us to take a look, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. We will try and install the latest theme version. Include a link to this topic in the email. Let us know.
Thanks, Simion!
I will send you that email. I was trying to update the theme, but it wasn’t giving me the option. The issue did happen on 9.6, but I don’t recall it occurring due to the update.
Thanks,
Daniel
