How do I get this to work? When I upload the gif, it is a still image.

Hello,
did you install the Animated Gif Resize plugin? The theme advises you to install it.
Remember that the gif plugin is experimental. We are working to improve it and release the code to the original author.

Yes I did, but the gif is still only showing one frame for the featured image.
