Apple News: Articles contain exposed unicode, HTML, or XML.

Hello Tagdiv!

I’m trying to get my articles published on Apple News using the Publish to Apple News plugin. I have signed up to the program but keep getting the following error on submission.

Articles contain exposed unicode, HTML, or XML.

I have attempted to solve this one myself but I’ve had no luck and since you know your theme better than me I figured it is worth asking you guys. Website in question: news.snowwatch.org.uk

Thanks in advance.

p.s. If anything else wants to chip in, please feel free.

Hello,
Well unfortunately we cannot help in this matter as the plugin is not tested and plugin implementation is not part of the theme support. Sorry. Here is our support policy: https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/
Thank you for your understanding.

Hmm, understandable I guess.

Can anyone else help?

Not having this issue with our sites in Apple News, but using Newsmag.

I would look at your most recent posts via your RSS feeds in browser, to see what might be “printed” in the post meta which doesn’t work “off your site…” — this can often be shortcodes, or bad HTML. Pretty much if it passes AMP validation will also work in Apple News.

So, you have to check for bad things being inserted in post meta from plugins; and also make sure legacy HTML is updated…

e.g., bad WordPress center tags like
<p align="center"> should be <p class="mycenterclass"> – etc.
