When i share an article on facebook, no thumbnail shows up. I would like to have the featured image as the thumbnail. Is there a solution to this issue?

The theme doesn’t output automatic the og: meta data information, but you can use a plugin for this. We recommend to use this plugin WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin because is the best for SEO. Just install it and activate the meta data: http://screencast.com/t/9CBtZm0bESiP

I have installed the plugin and the meta data is activated, yet it still does not show any thumbnail
We have same Problem.
Thumbnail is not displayed on Facebook like this, though OG:image is displayed on this debug site.

Facebook routinely has issues capturing data; they have now added a “recapture attachment” drop down when you share something, then click on the time since saved, and then it will be on the arrow… works pretty well … this also solves issue where when you save something it just shows URL for your website and nothing else — the refresh does seem to work.
If you get the dread “timeout lock” where nothing saves … only solution there is to try again later or manually paste in your item.
