My site is a news site using a Newspaper theme. I want to manage content like a newspaper, not like a blog. Essentially, I don’t want all articles to appear on the front page like a blog; only select articles (posts) will be promoted to the front page. Can you help me understand how to post articles (posts) to categories, without posting them to the front page? For a scalable solution, I’d probably need to do this with a category called “front” or something like that, and not by way of filters. I’m looking to make promotion to the front page a function of an editorial role.

Hi,
For what you want, you need to use a homepage that is edited with tagdiv composer.
Blocks will be set on this page, blocks that can be filtered, and for this, if you want the posts that are part of a category not to be displayed, you just have to filter the blocks not to display that category, or if you want that only 1, 2 categories to be displayed, it is possible to filter so that only the respective categories are filtered, so when a post is created and contains the category that is filtered on the block, it will appear as well, if it does not contain it, it will not appear.

Actually, I want to determine this via editorial workflow, not by category filters. Maybe this could be done with a tag or category called “Home”, but I wouldn’t want this category to be visible on my menus.
Essentially, no posts should go to the Home page by default, but any post *could* be assigned to the Home page.

Yes, this can be done using a category or a tag, but that category or tag still has to be set once on the blocks on the homepage, and after that, everything will be done from the WordPress editor, where you add or delete the category or tag respectively on your posts.

Can you help me figure out why I can see all of my menu categories when logged in to the site, but not when logged out? I’d like to fix this so they’re all visible, even when logged out? Also, there are 3 menu items (categories) that are not visible on the Mobile menu.

Most probably this problem is related to a cache or optimization plugin, if you have such a plugin you must check the css and javscript settings of these plugins.

Following up on this. Did you receive the credentials so you can look at this? I was able to take care of the filtering issue for articles on the front page, but I still need help with the JavaScript / CSS issue you mentioned that is preventing part of my menu to not be visible.
The categories are different when I am logged in vs logged out. The only category that I don’t want to be visible is the one called “front”, as that is the one that I’m using with filtering to put articles on the front page.

So, this is a problem of caching. Please make sure that all your caches are cleared and that you do not use any other caching tools. Ask your host as well.

The caching plugins are disabled and the issue is still ongoing. When logged out, I only see about half of the categories.
