Author page 404 error

Am getting a 404 on <mydomain>/author and I’m not having spaces in of any of the authors nickname. Any clues?

Remember link is

yoursite/author/authornickname

not

yoursite/authornickname

Do you have an example link on a post which when clicked leads to 404 ?

Yes, I know that the url should be mysite/author/authornickname. The problem is that webmaster tools, google crawler, complaining about the 404 on mysite/author.

http://wefundex.com/author/admin

But when I tried another author on mysite/author/nickname (other than admin) it redirects to mysite???
