I have defined,
Theme panel > template settings > author template > general author template > author template 1.
Still when I go back to author pages followed by a post it says,
Oops… Error 404
Sorry, but the page you are looking for doesn’t exist.
You can go to the HOMEPAGE.
Please help me if I am missing something.

Try to re-save your permalinks from the panel, clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results.
