Hi there
We have the standard header search running on our site, but it is not returning results when we search by author name.
Is this expected behaviour or something we can fix?

Hello,
Our theme uses the WordPress search function, and we made few changes only for the live search. By default, those will display all posts and pages that contain the word/words you are looking for in the title or post content.
Also, there isn’t an option to edit the search results.
This can be done with custom work or using an extra plugin, but we can’t recommend one.
