Author's Page doesn't exist

Perhaps I missed something, but based on reading other comments I thought the Author’s Page (like this one in demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/author/admin/ ) was created automatically. But when I click on an author’s name, it just redirects me to the homepage and shows posts from all authors.

Something I missed? Somewhere I need to create this? I set the author page settings in theme panel > template settings > author display view, but nothing seems to be happening.

Thoughts on how I can get the author’s page to show up?

Also, while I’m thinking of it… when I click the twitter sharing button at the bottom of the post, it ends the tweet with “via @Domestic Soul”. It should read “via @domesticsoul”, because my twitter username is one word. Where is it pulling the name from so I can change this?

Thanks!

Hi,

1. The author page it’s dynamically generated. Please provide your site’s URL to see the issue. What you can try is to disable all plugins or one by one and see if works.

2. To modify go to td_module_blog.php file and change like this: http://screencast.com/t/np3XYomLr

Thanks

http://www.domesticsoul.com is the site.

I disabled the plugins one at a time to see if it caused any issues, and it turns out it’s the WordPress SEO plugin from Yoast. I kept it activated for now so you could see what was happening.

Thoughts?

Actually, no need. I just solved the problem 🙂

Here’s what happened:

I had just updated to the latest version of WordPress SEO (version 1.5.3.3) and in Settings > Titles & Metas > Other the box for “Disable Author Archives” was checked.

I am not sure if this option is in the previous versions or if it is new in this version, because I don’t remember seeing it before. So if anyone updates to a new version of WordPress SEO, they should probably be aware of this.

I have the same problem. When I click over the author name it redirects to the home page.
The problem seems to be the plugin SEO by Yoast since when desactivated the author page works properly.
I’m still in localhost so I can not send you an example for you to check.
Has anyone solved this problem?

Thanks

Well, the author page works for me and I run YOAST SEO ….

You should double check your settings in YOAST, resave your “permalinks” from the main WP settings, clear all your cache.

Issues with YOAST…

1) have had some issues with the “force transport”
2) have had some issues with “remove stop words” from slugs

Maybe that helps, maybe not.

Hi,

Thanks Christopher!

@schauvin

Please make sure you have this option unchecked: http://screencast.com/t/FDM20jqmxo
Hope this helps!

Thanks
