hi, i’m trying to load a background advert to the theme – it says to disable the ‘stretch’ image option if you are using a click through advert, yet when i upload the advert and do this, the advert doesn’t display. i’ve uploaded an advert as a background image in dimensions advised in an earlier forum post but it does not work… who can i talk to about this option further as i’ve had no luck so far. many thanks

The option will work with the stretch option as well. This was fixed in newspaper 6 but the documentation did not get updated. I removed that part from the docs now. You can use the stretch option with the background ad without problems.

could you provide me with the specs/dimensions that the image should be if i want it to fill the whole of the background of the website?
ideally we would then get a designer to design the image to that size, with the message we want to promote in the part of the image on each side that will be visible either side of the website page…does that make sense?
as we will put text/logo on the visible part of the image(i.e. in columns each side), we don’t want this to be stretched, but would just want to the image to be the correct dimensions/size in the first place in order to fill the entire background…?

Unfortunately, there’s no ideal size, if you want to display something to the left and right of the content area like for example – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag_fashion/td-post-taylor-swifts-stylish-separates-in-germany-shop-them-here/ you have to take in account the content area width – http://screencast.com/t/gUzSJbQW9I and create a background image based on that – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag_fashion/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/fashion-bg.jpg and use it like this: http://screencast.com/t/ZbPvjtikphb
For best graphic results you could use a full hd image (1920x1080px), make sure you compress it, you don’t want a large file, it will slow page loading speed.
