Background Click Ad not working

Hi there! I’m upgrading from Newspaper 7 to the latest release (11.2) and everything seems fine except for the fact that the background ad is not clickable, even if a URL is set.

I found other topics here and added the suggested code below to the CUSTOM CSS area:

td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
max-width: 100%;
}
body.td-background-link .td-container-wrap {
cursor: auto;
width: 1164px;
}

It still doesn’t work.

You can test it here:

Thanks.

Hello!

In order to make the background click ad to work, you need to enable this option: https://www.screencast.com/t/U2IjIw6r.

Let me know the results!

Thank you!

Hi there! This option is already enabled and it still doesn’t work.

I tried disabling, saving and enabling it again, but that didn’t work.

Any other suggestions? We need this feature running asap.

Thanks!

We found out that this piece of code is creating the issue. When we removed it, the background ad starts to work again but the website layouts gets messed up.

@media (min-width: 1180px){
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
width: 1071px!important;
}
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
position: relative;
top: 120px;
margin-bottom: 120px;
display: block;
margin: 0 auto;
}
}

Hello,

I saw you use WPBakery plugin, please disable it, clear all cache and after the background ad should work.
Also, my recommendation is to shift from WPBakery to Composer, because WPBakery is an old builder plugin.
Please check our guide to know how to shift from WPBakery to Composer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
tagDiv Composer contains a lot of functions and features, please check our tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/

Thank you!

Hello, we deactivated WPBakery plugin but the background ad is not working yet.

The piece of code below seems to hold the boxed layout on it’s place but it affects the click on the background ad. Here’s the piece of code:

@media (min-width: 1180px){
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
width: 1071px!important;
}
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
position: relative;
top: 120px;
margin-bottom: 120px;
display: block;
margin: 0 auto;
}
}

and here’s the full custom css that we have on our theme panel

.td-big-grid-post .entry-title a{
color: #faf65f !important;
text-shadow: 0 1px 0 black;
}
.td_module_wrap:hover .entry-title a{

Hi tonyaiex,
I just made a test with Newspaper v11.2 and for me the background ads it is working, but on your website I see that you have a lot of errors https://i.imgur.com/6y9X7ok.png so if your background ad it is still set like in our guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/background-ads, then, please make a test using only tagDiv plugins, also if you use a child theme, set the main theme and make sure that you do not us extra code (extra css).
Let us know the results!

Hi, Calin. We solved the errors but it didnt affect the background ad.
We did some steps, listed as below:

1. Removed all the custom css from the theme panel.
Result: background ad works but layout gets messy.

2. Deactivated all the plugins non-related to the theme.
Result: nothing changed.

3. Removed all custom ads from all the ads slots (Ads Tab / Mobile Theme Tab)
Result: nothing changed.

4. Removed all the custom JS/CSS
Result: nothing changed.

As we mentioned before, looks like this piece of css is the problem:

@media (min-width: 1180px){
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
width: 1071px!important;
}
.td-boxed-layout #td-outer-wrap {
position: relative;
top: 120px;
margin-bottom: 120px;
display: block;
margin: 0 auto;
}
}

Can you help us out? I can share the login credentials to our wp-admin panel.

Hi,

Please make a full backup, send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and Cpanel access, so we can investigate this issue and let you know what can be done. Also paste a link to this topic so we can easily identify you.

Thanks!
