Hi. I’d like to use shortcode for our background click ad. It is possible with the other Ads (in other sections) on the Newspaper Theme. Please let me know if and how this can be done (otherwise there seems to be no way to track the clicks on the background image). Thank you.

Hi,
Unfortunately the background ad click was not designed to render shortcodes like the theme’s ads, it can be used only to add URL for your background. The theme doesn’t have an option to achieve this, but you can try to use a plugin.
