Background image and color in column text element

When I set a background image or background colour on the column text element they sit on top of any copy completely obscuring it?

Please provide more details about your problem, also, provide your website URL so I can take a closer look at it. More useful would be to provide us such an image with your backend settings for this element so we can take a closer look at it.

A couple of things:
1. You can see the full width watch image. This is set as a background image of the row. The strip at the bottom of this image is a background image set on the column text element. There is no writing as the background image sits over the text?
2. The watch background image is set as Cover. The image sits in Media Library at 1920×1080 but this is picking one up at 300×169 and then stretching it to cover (hence it is of poor resolution) – how do I change this?

Unfortunately, I do not exactly understand what you mean, sorry! I have inspected your website and I did not saw any background image for the row, sorry! Please provide more details, screenshots with the problem so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
