Trying to troubleshoot an issue with a plugin. WP Background Takeover Advertisements

We have ads set up to show on a category page as well as the posts within that category. For some reason, the URL for the category page is working fine. But on the posts, we only get the background image, and the link does not show.
My developer said there may be something (a div) within the newspaper theme that is blocking the URL on the posts.
Any help would be appreciated.
