Big Slider Thumbnail issue after theme update

Hello,

I have updated the Newspaper Theme from version 3.8.4 to version 4.2. Since doing so, the Big Slider template used on our front page is no longer using the generated thumbs of the featured categories’ posts featured images. When looking at the page source, I see that it is using the full sized original image and using img width and img height values to constrain the generated thumb that do not correspond to what image sizes that are specified for the Big Slider template. I have re-generated my thumbs and this doesn’t help.

Any ideas?

Peter

Hi,

Make sure you deactivate any CDN plugins and empty server cache if you use any. Also make sure you are not using the 980px layout, we have an issue with the big slider when using the 980px layout.
If this doesn’t helps please let me know and send a link to your site so I can inspect this issue.

Thanks

Hello,

Apologies, I forgot to provide a link to the web site, here it is.

http://www.rosslandmuseum.ca/

If you right click on the images in the Big Slider and select “view image”, you’ll see that the original full image is called, not a resized thumbnail.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

I have inspected your site and seems like there is a problem with the images you have uploaded and set as featured image on post as they are not cropped for some reason, my guess it’s because they are to large.
Please try to increase the memory limit, edit wp-config.php file and change the limit to 128M like this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
You can also do this by editing the php.ini file and search for this line: memory_limit = 128M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (128MB) and change it to 128M
If nothing works please try to resize those images and then re-upload them and the regenerate the thumbs.
Hope this helps!

Thanks
