Let’s say I have three categories A, B and C. Category A has 3 subcategories – p, q and r.
Let’s say I am using Block 1. In the block settings filter tab. Is there any way I can filter by category A and show all the 3 subcategories p, q, and r in the filter list which appears as a series of items on the top right corner of the block.
The closest I can come is by the following settings in the filter tab:
Category Filter – A
Filter Type: filter by categories
Show the following ids: (ids for p, q and r)
However I have to explicitly enter the ids of p, q and r. Whereas I want it to automatically select all the subcategories of A. So that in the future if I create a new subcategory “t”, it will automatically appear in the filter list.
Hi,
There is no need to set the id of posts if you set the category ( all the posts from that category will be show in the block) -> https://www.screencast.com/t/cGjyk7gUDTS -> https://www.screencast.com/t/JqDVV9nn
Block settings guide ->https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Thank you!
Hi Calin –
I understand that the block will only show posts from the parent category that I set (in my example every post that has a parent category of A). However, I am referring to the filter menu which appears on the top right of the block. This menu is a list of links on the top right of the block that the user can click to further filter the posts. I want this list of links to be only the subcategories of A – only p, q and r. Right now it shows every category and subcategory.
Let me know if it is not clear and I can send a screen shot to explain.
Thanks
Hi Cain – See my previous message. I also saved the screenshot at:
The filter menu on the top of the block shows all the categories and sub-categories. I want this menu to show only those sub-categories whose parent is “Hadith”.
Hi,
That is the ajax filter for category, unfortunately the only way to show only the categories you want is to set the category id -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ALI9iWaZV -> https://www.screencast.com/t/L8pl15qA8S by setting the category id all posts from that category will be display.
Thank you!
