Blog module 9 doesnt work, reverts to WP blog

Greetings!

First: I LOVE this theme! It is so powerful and has so many choices that I continue to find cool new ways to present my website every day I play with this theme. Thank you!

Now to my question: I’m trying to make my Blog page show snippets of blogs, just like you have in your demo for the Feature > Pages > Blog. I’m trying to use Block 9 instead of the default WP blog formatting of showing three full blogs.

I’ve set up my blog page with Block 9, but instead of seeing the blogs in the format of Block 9, my blog page keeps showing the default WP blog formatting (with the current setting of showing 3 full blogs).

Ugly! I want yours!

How do I adjust the Blog page code so that it appears like your Demo page > blog? http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/blog/

Here is what I would like (note Block for Blog postings): http://screencast.com/t/voZt4eg7Kf

Here is the code in my Blog page with the correct Block 9: http://screencast.com/t/WahOYKtWn

Here is what I continue to be disappointed in seeing for my blog (WP default): http://screencast.com/t/4uOOxD9Th

It appears to me that WP is overwriting my desire to use Block 9 with the default WP setting, how do I fix that?

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS – I can’t import the demo themes as I’ve almost completed the site using my version of the themes, so I’m assuming Importing Themes would not be good as it would overwrite my existing theme structure. True?

I’m assuming you’ve got to the wordpress settings > reading and set your ‘page’ with the layout you want to use as the ‘static page’ to use in place of default blog setup?

And you dear sir assume correct: http://screencast.com/t/RhnJUSrmw

<LOL> well, you’d be surprised how often folks miss that one 😉

I guess wait for Lucian, Marius or official tech folk to check into this one for you. They will likely need a link to the home page so be sure to include that somewhere if not in the screen shots.

Yes, and it could easily have happened to me! Just got lucky smart this time.

🙂

Well, unfortunately the blog is in .dev on my local server here at home. Unless they are in the Austin, Texas area this weekend, I’ll probably have to send them screen shots or otherwise show them the setup using Skype.

BTW, thanks for your help Christopher! You’re one smart Newspaper dude!

Hi,

Have you managed to get this done? Setting this as Christopher wrote from settings > reading will let you build a page and use it like this: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/blog/
Please let me know if you have any other theme related issue!

Thanks

Hi Lucian,

No, it still does not work. Settings > Reading is set up properly, however the Block is not being executed, instead the default 3 posts from the original blog 3 post setting is executing. My blog had already been in existence prior to using the theme, so I’m wondering if the default code is over-writing the Block code?

Either way, it still is not executing the blog like your demo Blog page.

Here’s the page that is not executing the blog Block: http://www.usefulusability.com/blog/

Thanks for any help!

Bump.

Any ideas guys on why the Block code is not working on the Blog page? Would love to get it to look like your demo blog page example.

Hi,

You can set the blog template to use module 8 layout to look like on newspaper demo: http://screencast.com/t/9r7ofEwuk

Thanks

So simple, how did I miss that?

That did it. Fixed! I’m not sure why, but I thought I had tried that before and it had not worked. Well thank you Lucian!

Resolved!
