Bounce Rate Google Analytics Jumped to 80 %

Hello,

Before instaling this theme i was using bayside theme and my bounce rate was 0.25% but after instaling newspaper my bounce rate jumped to 80% please help what can i do

Was your bounce rate 25% or actually 0.25%? The average websites bounce rate is 40% and doesn’t have as much bearing on SERPS as you might think. This being said there could be an issue with your tracking code either now or previously that caused the difference in rates. My assumption would be the tracking code was improperly installed previously since a bounce rate of 0.25% is almost impossible.

It is likely that your bounce rate was previously closer to 80% so now you will want to use that as your baseline.

Hello mofiki, thanks for reply. Yes before my bounce rate was 0.25 or 0.35 and i was using super simple Google analytics but i canceled it now and paste the code on theme analytics code area. I will check the bounce rate after 3 days then write the results. Thanks a lot.

I have also noticed that the theme puts the analytics code at the end of the page which should not be the case so you should remove it from there and add it to the header file just above the </head> to meet Google’s best practices.

Has this been fixed in the latest update 3.9 as I also have jumped from under 5% to 85%+ and it is effecting time on page and number of page visits so its becoming critical. The site is http://coconutoilpost.com – Many thanks

in the latest version of the theme we have moved the google analytics code from bottom next to the header

Thanks but unfortunately it hasn’t made any difference to the bounce rate which is still at 85%? for this site.

I have also improved the page load and yslow ratings. I will reapply the code and see if that makes any difference.

Can you please advise on any other solutions?

Hi Lucian,

Unfortunately I have seen no drop. The site is currently on 85% + when it had dropped from 5% to 0.25% after changing to this theme but then one month later it jumped overnight.

Can you tell me if the google code is displaying correctly in the header of each page? The only other thing could be a change from the latest google update but then everyone would be noticing a big change?

Hi,

I am using NewsMag. I see the Bounce Rate Increated to upto 80% after upgradation.
Yesterday I upgraded my site Newsmag 1.5 to 2.1. After that I see the site is loading slowly & Bounce rate is really really high. It was 0%-3% when I am using 1.5 Version.

Please Fix this problem.
