I noticed, that after updating to 9.7.3 the custom templates build with td Composer are not used anymore! Pages with individual post template appear in default layout.
At first I thought, this is a bug in our child-template, but I switched to the child theme inside the /code/ folder of the Newspaper zip-file and here the same error appears. So this must be an error with child themes in general. With the original Newspaper theme individual post templates are displayed correctly.
What do I have to do to fix this?

Most of the theme files were moved into the tagdiv composer plugin as per the requirements of envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.

Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css as there are very few files left in the main theme as envato requires all functionality to be added through plugins.

I did this already (without that change the whole website is messed up), but this is no solution for the problem. As I told you: the problem appears even with the default child-theme. It must be a general problem.

Yeah something’s very very wrong with the child theme since the last update. What was the purpose of this update anyway?

There is definitely something wrong with the child theme (stuck to default template), I switched to the standard theme, it seems to work in the meantime.

Unfortunately indeed there it is a problem using child theme with tagDiv Cloud library the post templates will not longer work, sorry for the inconvenience!

It’s been two weeks now, since 9.7.3 has been released with the severe error, that single templates can’t be used with child themes. A fix was announced “as soon as possible”, but there is still no update or fix for that really bad bug. Any news here? It’s extremely urgent to be able to use templates again!

I can confirm that issue. Just rolled back to 9.7.2 and it is indeed exclusive to 9.7.3.
