Can I remove the prefix before the URL to my category page.

(e.g. example.com/c instead of example.com/a/b/c)

Hi,

The permalinks are controlled by wordpress, to eliminate the category prefix you have to use a plugin.
Wordpress SEO by Yoast has such a function – http://screencast.com/t/PFyN81nnh
If you don’t use this plugin you can search for an alternative.
