Sorry but unfortunately the theme blocks cannot work with external content.

I think you could hack something if your sub-domain and main domain share the same WP dbase; but you’d likely need to hire programmer to do that.
Other option
a) use FeedWordPress to pull in the RSS from sub-domain into a category, which you set to not be included in site map; use the settings “point at original source” vs local copy;
b) use Auto Post Thumbnail Pro to save thumbs to media system on main site from feed so that they would show in modles
( basically in this method you’re auto importing your own post into custom category, with a featured image from first image in post, which would be used on the modules; then the FeedWordPress login is doing soft redirect for any link in the module to the original source URL on the sub domain )
Draw that out on piece of paper and makes sense.
