Cannot install plugins with Newspaper theme

Hi,
I purchased the Newspaper theme but now can’t install the plug ins that go along with it (such as visual composer).

When I try to install, I receive the message:

The plugin does not have a valid header.
Downloading install package from http://urbanyvr.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/plugins/js_composer.zip…

Download failed. Service Temporarily Unavailable

I am wondering if this is because I am using 1&1 managed WordPress?

I switched the managed wordpress over to a standard installation shortly after signing up as I did not realize the limitations.

Please advise – I would really like to use this theme and it’s very frustrating not being able to.

is this because of where my WordPress installation is installed on the server (seems to be in a /clickandbuilds/wordpress/…..) folder instead of the standard /wp-content/ folder?

FYI
always best to install via FTP, as you “know” it is uploaded properly and where.

Plugins have to go into the /plugins/ folder in /wp-content/ regardless if you rename /wp-content/ to something else

You can always check with your web hosting for support on using their particular setup also.

thanks, I tried that as well… but I uploaded into their file structure.

I wonder if I should re-install wordpress via FTP.

Silly question, but if I reinstall wordpress via FTP, will I lose all my posts and images? Or does it stay with my user name somehow.

I have contacted 1&1 as well.

Your WordPress posts are saved in the php mysql dbase — probably good to learn how to back-up that as first step before doing anything! 🙂

you can usually figure out which folder is the plugins folder, as that is where akismet.php will be, which is installed by default with WordPress.

I ended up uploading the plug in zip files manually… it seems to be working now, although I am now having an issue with the big grid templates being missing from visual composer… not sure if it’s related.
