Hello. I must be doing something wrong with my Post Images. I have banner images that I want to add a link do when a viewer clicks on them, they are taken to my ecommerce site.
For example, when you go to this post: https://blog.truthentics.com/5-ingredients-that-safely-boost-energy-levels/
…There is a banner at the bottom – see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/ES2fUFzKt
But when I click on it, it doesn’t go to the destination I have it linked to: https://truthentics.com/pages/pure-energy
See here that I believe I have the image linked properly: https://www.screencast.com/t/yyjI4Cr0aKWK
But it doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong? In fact, I don’t think any of my banners on my posts that are linked to product pages work: https://blog.truthentics.com/
Please advise.
Rich
Vlad, can you be more specific?
Remove the image from the actual Post or the actual Media Library?
And then re-add the image back into the Post using the tagDiv Theme’s Editor or using the WordPress editor?
I’m not exactly clear on this. Please advise.
Rich
By the way, this occurred when I added a new image AND with images that were already in posts. I recently updated the theme from 8.5 to 11.2. Could that have caused this?
Does that mean I have to do this will all images in my posts?
Rich
When you say this is coming from WordPress and not from the Newspaper Theme, what exactly do you mean?
Rich
I just tried what you told me to do – that didn’t work. I end up with the same result.
Advise.

See screen capture video of my process here:
I just got off the phone with my host support at Hostgator.com. I spoke to a 15-year WordPress Developer. After he spent over 30 minutes with me troubleshooting, he came to the conclusion that the Newspaper Theme has not been updated since July 2021 and that WordPress has had a major update with a lot of features including the block features which he says that the Newspaper Theme 11.2 (which I have installed) does not address.
He further said that the image blocks placed in a blog Post are not working properly to link to a different destination URL because of the current Newspaper Theme version.
Does your development team even know that this is an issue?
Please advise. Obviously, I am a Registered User of this theme but this issue exists and it is NOT happening because of anything in my WordPress setup or hosting.

Hello!
I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. I have investigated the information you provided but we’re mixing things up. The latest WordPress updates offer more customization in post and sidebars. For the sidebars, those are mostly made for themes like the default ones. In a theme like tagDiv Composer, those are not used. TagDiv Composer is a page builder, it only affects templates. We have made some testing when the updates have been released and everything seemed to be working perfectly. Coming back to the issue presented by you, I have inspected this with the default Newspaper Theme and no plugins active and this is how it works: https://www.screencast.com/t/DaaDPKLvo0
This issue as you can see is not Newspaper Theme related. Unfortunately the easiest solution that actually works from what I have tested is to use the HTML code as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/1eheV6QEnVa
Here it is where your image path is: https://www.screencast.com/t/bd7tRMzs
I hope this was helpful!
Thank you!

That’s definitely NOT a practical solution for anyone using your Theme. Clearly, this is a problem with other Newspaper Theme users and not just me, yet nowhere do you mention this that Links to Images placed on a Page or Post DO NOT WORK.
Looks like I wasted time and money using your Theme. Terrible support to this issue. Like others, you’re just passing the buck!

Further, I tried what you suggested. But when I place a Custom HTML block on the blog post and enter the code you said I should, ALL of the text below the HTML Block becomes hyperlinked. And subsequently, it look stupid and changes the text to the hyperlink color!
See here: https://www.screencast.com/t/jr5IjSQak
Note that your suggestion doesn’t work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m sorry that you are feeling this way, but please read my reply above. This has been tested on standard wordpress theme, with no plugins, and the result is the same. This is not Newspaper Theme related.
I would like to check on what you have tested with the HTML block, Please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide the following:
– admin url and credentials
– A link to this topic in order to identify you
Our team will take a look!
Thank you !
