Categories not showing up in post menu

Hi there,

When creating a new post, I assign it to a number of categories, but today – without changing any settings – the list of categories which I can assign my post to has reduced.

This is only in the post editor itself.

In the list of posts, I can find the categories in Quick Edit, but not on the actual post itself.

Can you help?

Here you can see the issue…

Pic 1 has the categories I can see when I am creating a new post
Pic 2 has the categories I can see in the ‘Quick Edit’ area on WP.

I used to be able to see all the categories when creating a new post. But now can only see a selection of them.

What probably David is referring to is that if we try to search for a category inside the post page, the search doesn’t give any results. Instead, if you try to do a “quick edit” of the post from the posts page you will be able to select it.
The “categories” field already appears and is activated but is not working when you try to search a category name.

I have tried to update the theme to the latest version and disable all plugins except for TagDiv plugins but still doesn’t work

I’ve flushed the cache of the site with my hosting provider, reinstalled the latest version of WP, and the categories have reappeared inside the posts.

Seems to have been fixed after reinstalling WP.
