Any category I add on the menu seem to link back to the homepage, while pages on the menu work. please see link below to the site.

From what I can see all the links to category pages are being redirected to the homepage for some reason – http://prntscr.com/of4e3u
Did you maybe make modifications to the permalink structure? Try to re-save the permalinks.
For example I see that this category page is redirected to the homepage
– https://www.nigeriaelectricityhub.com/category/events/power-wednesday/
But this one exists – https://www.nigeriaelectricityhub.com/events/power-wednesday/
Maybe you removed the category base from the URL, so now all the old URLs are being redirected to the homepage, they should be 404 if that is the case. This redirect could be done automatically by SEO plugins or htaccess, to prevent 404 pages.

I did not make any changes to it actually, I have tried resaving the permalinks but nothing is working, is there any way out please ???
From what I can see now it is working, the category pages have no category base, and the URLs are directing correctly to the category pages.
For example – https://www.nigeriaelectricityhub.com/watt-page/
Maybe you solved the problem, looks like it.
