Categories page ascending/decending option top bar.

Hi.

Can someone please help me with this.

In a category page at the top, all the sub categories within the parent categories are shown. But it is the oldest one showing, and not the latest. I want it to show the latest.

I can’t see an option in the theme panel settings where to correct that. I was thinking it could maybe be a php thing?

Can someone maybe help me with a php code to switch between ascending/decending?

Thanks.

Hi,

So you mean these sub-categories – https://i.imgur.com/EsnYxa4.png
Those are actually displayed not by the date the categories were created, but alphabetically. Categories don’t have a publish in WordPress as far as I know.

They are displayed like that automatically, and there is no setting to make them display in a different way. Maybe through modifications in the theme they could be made to display alphabetically descending, now they are ascending. Would you like to try and do this?

Thank you!

Hi.

When you ask me if i would like to do this, what do you mean by that? That you would help me find a way to make the categories appear by date?

Thanks, Thomas Biehl.

Hi,

That is impossible, they are displayed alphabetically, in an ascending order (A->Z)
I though that maybe you would like to change that order to be alphabetically descending (Z->A) That should be possible, but only if you want to. By date it isn’t possible, the categories don’t have a date to allow them to be sorted.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you!
