If you go to my web site, http://www.badmintonplanet.com/ you will see the images on the top pages are marked with “2017 Sudirman Cup”.
The truth is, I have selected several categories on those articles, such as “2017 Sudirman Cup”, “Badminton News”, “Category1”, “Category2”, but I would like the category on those images to show up as “Badminton News”. How can I achieve that?
Hi,
The category tag displayed can be controlled by setting a primary category for the post. That category will always have priority from all the other categories set for the post. Here you can find out more about this, and what settings will be inherited by the post, when you set a primary category for it

Thanks
Hi,
Please check again to see if the category you want is set as primary here

If the post has multiple categories this option will ensure that the category tag that is displayed, is the category you set as primary. This feature is working properly. Try clearing any caching installed and see if this has any effect.
Thanks
Hi, I’m having the same problem, and I’m using Newspaper 8.1.
When I make a category primary in the categories widget on the right of the post editor, it doesn’t work. I used to get around this by setting the primary category in the post settings as in your screenshot. However, I think the post settings section no longer exists in Newspaper 8.1? I’m not seeing that section in the editor anyway.
Please could you let me know how to resolve this?
Thanks
Hi,
You should only use the theme primary category settings for posts, the one you mention is added there by the SEO plugin probably

The post settings section is still there and it has not been removed, check if it is enabled in the screen options

Thanks for the response Simion. I found that there is a plugin conflict with the latest version of the ‘widgets on pages’ plugin, which we’re using to display ad blocks in posts.
Is a fix possible, or do you have any alternative suggestions how we might get around this?
Thanks
Hi,
I’m assuming that this plugin is causing the post settings to not be displayed anymore. Unfortunately there is no solution that I could provide you for this. Not all plugins are compatible with the theme.
Maybe you can find a different plugin that you could use that has the same options. We have not tested such plugins so I could not make any recommendations, sorry.
Thanks
Hi,
I’m sorry for this situation, if there were a solution I would happily provide it to you. But we cannot test all plugins with the theme and see what conflicts may occur, it is impossible.
Maybe you can ask the plugin developers, they might have a solution or some advice. There might have been similar issues with other themes as well.
Thanks
