is it possible to change the theme of an existing installation without major problems?

Maybe my question was unclear, I’ve bought both Newsmag4 and newspaper and I want to keep them both.
My question is if I can switch a running Newsmag4 installation to Newspaper theme, will my content from Newsmag4 work when change to Newspaper?

Oh, sure. The platform is compatible as the core of the themes is the same. Some elements will not be present in newspaper like the border grid you have now on newsmag. The layout will be a bit different but compatibility will be maintained.
