Hello,

if I change settings in theme settings – like default post template, there are no changes in frontend.
I can only see the changes, if I switch to parent (Newspaper)-theme. What is happend here?

by us the same. What happenend? We want to change the single_template (Design) with active child, the single_template cannot be change. If we change to parent theme, then all works correctly.

Hi,

If you use a child theme from previous theme versions, there could be an issue. In the latest theme version 9.7.3 there was a modification made to the child theme functions file – http://prntscr.com/nurl7z
You could edit the child theme functions file and make the modification as mentioned in the screenshot. Then there should be no problem. Please let us know.

Thanks

Hello Simion C.,
there is still an error even when using the default child theme from 9.7.3. The child theme does not use single templates. This is a bug.

I have even the proplem that td-composer does not load, because admin-settings were aempty in javascript. Scrrenshoot tagDiv Composer. Ist this related with that?

@Beni

I don’t think so. On our installation the composer works as expected. I can even edit a single template, if I select the template via the composer. But when I click on “Edit template” on the admin bar of a post, that should be displayed based on that same single template, I get the message

Please select tagDiv Builder Template from the theme panel or set a default template. The current page/post uses a template that is not editable.

So with version 9.7.3 somehow the connection/integration with a child theme and the composer and it’s templates is somehow broken. The post is displayed in the standard layout and not with the single template it is connected with in the post settings.

Hi,

Indeed, seems the child theme causes the issue with the post templates. The selected post templates do not apply when the child theme is active. This problem is under investigation, it will be fixed.

@Beni
If you are having problems with the composer, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com so we can take a look at it. Provide admin login in the email, and mention any other details about the problem, if there are any.

@be2name
Does the post use a cloud template? If it does, then you should be directed to the composer edit screen. If it doesn’t then there will be a message
http://prntscr.com/nv9oay
So if the post uses a cloud post template it should work alright, works in my case. Let me know.

Thanks

Hi Simion C.,
good to hear, that the child theme/template issue is under investigation. I hope this error will soon be fixed.
I do use a cloud template, but I think this (wrong) message does appear because of the template bug.

Because of the composer problem I habe sent an email already.

I’m having the same problem. When the child theme is active, changes made to any files within either the parent or child theme have absolutely no effect. Changes to header.php and single.php and loop-single.php … have no effect whatsoever. Surprised by such a significant problem with a theme that has been SO amazing.

The child theme is quite limited after the latest updates. Note that if the composer is active, the header file used will be the one in the plugin – http://prntscr.com/nztxbn
also the single files are there as well – http://prntscr.com/nztxr8
So these files can’t be modified in a child theme anymore. If we should find a way to allow users to be able to modify the files in a safer way, we will provide it. But as it is at the moment they can only be modified directly in the composer plugin.

Same issue – is there a solution, since your post is 2 months old, now?

Hi @mbo,

If you are using the last version of the theme ( Newspaper v9.8 ) you can use the child theme as before the update to v9.7 you can check our documentation for child theme here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thank you!
