For some reason, there are Chinese/Asian symbols in place of all my social media logos on my website. I didn’t tough any of the fonts or anything so please let me know what’s going on. http://screencast.com/t/OznYVEgSa http://screencast.com/t/w4Is3rPFL

Hello steventsakanikas,

Your problem is font related. Those symbols are placed as characters not images. It seems like the font file doesn’t load properly. You need to check if you have any errors in your console. Also if you use a child theme make sure it is set up properly.
This could also be plugin related. Try to disable them (except visual composer) and see if the problem is still there.

Thank you.

Hi Bogdan,

I attempted to disable most of my plugins but still the Chinese characters were showing up. Can you help me out? Thanks again.

Hi,

I found that this usually happens when loading the font file (which contains those icons) from another host/url. I have checked your browser’s console and you have an error – http://screencast.com/t/b1EwOZfmFGm
The solution would be to load them from the same url as the site or try this solution – http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/71630/font-blocked-from-loading-by-cross-origin-resource-sharing-policy-no-access-co

Thanks!

I am having this issue constantly as well.. sometimes it loads the font properly, sometimes not.
Why was this not configured right into the theme? Can we get a fix for this, or actual instructions for this theme?

Not comfortable with editing htaccess files all over the place.

Hi,

@Jesstickles
Please provide a link so we can take a look, also clear cache as it may be a caching issue.
Do you have similar error in the console? If your fonts are loaded from the same host/url should not be any issues.

Thanks!

I haven’t seen any issues in the console, but I might not even be looking in the right place. I added that line to the htaccess file but it is still coming up here and there.. while I have cleared the cache, who knows.

my site is at http://www.schoolofsurvival.com

I find that what seems to happen is that on initial load (desktop or mobile), the asian font loads. After navigating to post/page and back it seems to rectify itself, but that initial load is when people first get to my site in order to navigate, so it seems awkward.

Let me know if you have any insight, thanks!

Hi,

You seem to have the exact same error as the users above: http://screencast.com/t/U9UZzisiiigw
Have you tried any of the methods above to fix your problem? if not please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and see if it’s a plugin related issue. If not, please try this method:
