Hi there. I am trying to clone my Newspaper install however for some reason the duplicates are not perfect. First thing I noticed was the wrong header menu.
I went on to investigate the issue. When I checked the theme settings I noticed these were not cloned and were set to default. For example there was no custom css. So I “fixed” this by using the theme import/export settings.
I assume this will also happen when I restore backups. Therefore I will shoot a ticket over to installatron so they can fix this but maybe you can provide with information where these theme settings are stored in the database? It should be in the backup because all database tables were selected.
The DUPLICATOR plugin is a much better way to clone/backup a site entirely, as it also grabs the actual dbase, all settings, images, meta data, etc. Seriously, this is the only thing I’ve used in 10 years other than server side, which does a true “full clone” of the site — I used it recently to clone a site and change the domain name; really worked. 🙂
Also note that cloning “settings” from one theme install to another theme install also has some minor issues as some “backup” settings for the theme panel are managed by WP and not the theme, so those may not be carried over if you clone “the settings” alone.
For a true ‘clone’ of a site in toto (not the band), use DUPLICATOR. 🙂

Still need installatron to fix this issue because when I do a rollback (I create automatic daily, weekly, monthly backups) the same problem will probably emerge.
I tried duplicator after the WP > tools > export and then > import totally died on about post 3500 out of 10000. And with 32GB RAM on dedicated server, quad XEONs, etc. So realized that “tools export” security blanket was NOT really a true blanket but definitely a safety net — as in full of holes 🙂
