as always, just wanted to say that you guys rock — one of the best WordPress themes I have ever used 😀
Just a quick one.
We use the plugin ‘Subscribe to Comments Reloaded’ to alert readers when a new comment has been published on an article that they are following. When you click a link from an email sent by this plugin, or from within the WordPress admin CMS in general, the theme sends you to the bottom of the comment, not the top. A good example is the following URL:

Whereas I’ve noticed that the comment permalink URL used by the site theme in comments on the site is as follows (for the same comment):
https://delimiter.com.au/2016/01/18/61-agencies-apply-for-metadata-access/#li-comment-712564
This second URL will send readers to the top of the comment.
My question is: How do I send readers or myself to the top of a comment when clicking on its permalink either from within an email or from within the WordPress CMS. In short, what is the difference between those two links, and is there any way to resolve this issue?

Unfortunately we have no solution we can offer as we have no idea of the plugin functionality. The plugin is not tested with our theme so we cannot provide an answer referring to plugins we have not tested. Sorry.

However, part of the issue I am having has nothing to do with the plugin.
I repeat: When I click on a comment permalink from within the WordPress CMS (eg from the comments section), it will send the window to the bottom of the comment, rather than the top. This means that I have to scroll up.
Is this standard behaviour for the plugin? It’s rather annoying — it’s non-standard behaviour for WordPress. Usually when you click on a comment permalink from within the WordPress CMS, it will take you to the top of the comment, so that you can see it — instead of having to scroll up to see it.

I have tested this a bit and it seems that the standard behavior of the theme is to point to the specific comment. If you are trying to access for example comment 712564 it will take you to that comment in particular.

I’m not sure you understand what I am talking about here.
The standard behaviour of the WordPress CMS, when you click a comment link from within the CMS admin interface, is to take you to the top of that comment, so that you can read it.
The behaviour of the Newspaper theme currently takes you to the bottom of the comment, so that you have to additionally scroll up to read the comment. This may seem like a small issue, but on a large site like Delimiter, which gets thousands of comments, it causes reader and admin frustration.
Do you see what I’m saying here?

Can you let me know if there is some kind of fix or workaround for this? Perhaps there is someone at TagDiv that this issue could be escalated to?

Hello,
I tested this further and it seems it really takes you to the next comment not the actual one. You can correct this by modifying a theme file like so: http://screencast.com/t/qyA2c73WlQX
Now it should take you to the correct comment. I will add this issue on our fix list so we can update it in the next version of the theme.

sorry to bother you again about this issue.
I upgraded to the latest version of the Newspaper theme, and then attempted to re-implement this fix in the code.
However, with this fix implemented, the #li-comment links do nothing but direct you to the article which hosts the comment. For example, with the code fix implemented in the newest version of the Newspaper theme, this link:

With the fix implemented, the #comment links work as intended … but now the #li-comment links are broken.
Obviously this is an issue … a number of readers have complained about the #li-comment links not working any more. So I have reverted the fix and am now running just default Newspaper theme.
Could you let me know, is there a workaround for this? As it stands, after the Newspaper theme update, I’m now back where I started 🙁 I can only surmise that something changed in the latest theme update to break this fix.

I just tested this again and it works fine on our end.The link goes exactly to where it’s supposed to with no redirects. There could be another problem interfering with comments on your end. Possibly a plugin conflict so please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and clear your cache (also reset cdn files if you use it).
