Hi there,
After an update, “Comments are closed.” now appears above the box where readers place comments. Comments are enabled on the theme and also checked on all posts. Discussions are turned on. I have no idea what happened, but I cannot figure out how to shut it off.
What is triggering this from inside the theme?

If you have multiple posts with this problem, you can edit them in bulk like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/F1FVhUqK
If these settings are enabled then the comments section should be available for the posts in question.

I followed those steps described but the issue persists. Each post says the comments are closed.

I can not think of a possible cause for this if all those settings are enabled in WordPress and in the post settings page – https://www.screencast.com/t/4OS2oxxUM and it is still not removed. Maybe this is caused by a plugin, you could try disabling all your plugins except Visual composer and clear any caching installed to see if this has any effect in this matter. This is unusual because I see that there is the possibility to post comments even though this issue is present.
