Contact form 7 and missing sidebar

Hello all,

We’re also experiencing the same problem as [1,2] with our pages, but
with the Newsmag theme. Not only is the sidebar missing, but the title
of the page as well. Articles are unaffected. Deleting all plugins
has no effect, and all is well with the standard theme I tested.

Do you have any suggestions?

Regards,
Martin

Wordpress version: 4.3.2
Newsmag version: 2.2
Contact form 7 version: 4.3.1

Hi

This issue could be caused by the widgets tile. You need to use just standard letters on the titles. Any other symbol such as !, @, #, $, or – , _ or language specific characters, will cause the sidebar and the widget area to remove widgets and sidebars.
Try to deactivate all plugins again, leave just Visual Composer, empty all caches and test again. You also can try to make a new local install on your computer, with the latest version of WordPress, the current version of the theme available on themeforest, V 2.3.4, and Visual Composer plugin, then check if the problem is still there.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi Andrei,

Thank you for the suggestion. We endeed have non-english characters in the titles of some of our forms, but not in our testing environment[1]. I’ll try to update to the latest versions and get back to you.

I have the same problem.
Have tried to disable all plugins, but as long as contactform7 is active, the sidebar and title goes missing.
The problem occurs when I try to add a form’s shortcode.
Please advise.

Hi

Your page is not set to display a sidebar. To have a sidebar using contact form on a page you can try this configuration in Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/jDjMckhYmz The result can be seen here: http://screencast.com/t/20c6eAvK
Here i used a 2/3 reow for the contact form generated by the plugin and a 1/3 row for the sidebar added using a widgetized sidebar block.
Here is the page shortcode from Vsual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/BmnE550Yefuhttp://pastebin.com/H9WFM6MH You can use it as example, just edit the text block and replace the current shortcode with one generated by your plugin.

Hope this help.
Thanks!

Oh cool. That worked. Thanks!
But I didn’t need the [2/3][1/3] thing for the about-us page.
And, the sidebar does appear (without the [2/3][1/3]) if I didn’t include the contactform7’s shortcode.
Is that normal?

Hi

I’ve noticed that you’re using the page template default for the contact page. When this template it’s used the default sidebar set in page settings won’t appear. You can use either the above method or use page builder + title to display the sidebar: http://screencast.com/t/IIG6Z5YyH1
It doesn’t matter if the contact form is present or not on the page. When the theme detect the default template only the content from Visual Composer it’s displayed. So if you want to display a sidebar using that template the only way is by using the widgetized sidebar block as I indicated in my previous message.

Hope this help.
Thanks!

Cool. Using the page builder + title works too.
Thanks.
