container width not respected by Tablepress table insertions

Hi,

We have an issue with tables from Tablepress.

When used on pages, the tables respect the content element container of the “Column text” element:

https://winbuzzer.com/ai/models/ — you have to click “Expand to read more” to see it there

When the same table is placed using the same shortcode in a post, it expands the whole post-content area below the featured image to the right, overlapping with the sidebar:
https://winbuzzer.com/2020/02/11/microsoft-deepspeed-with-zero-can-train-100-billion-parameter-ai-models-xcxwbn/

Here is a post without such a table for comparison:
https://winbuzzer.com/2025/02/28/microsofts-new-bioemu-1-ai-model-can-predict-how-proteins-move-and-change-xcxwbn/

We have tried various CSS-codes to fix this but without any success.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hello!

We’ve added the Single Post Table of Contents shortcode. This can be found in the TagDiv Composer while you edit a single cloud post template.
Other similar feature is this one: https://forum.tagdiv.com/use-tabbed-content-shortcode/

I hope that helps you!

Thank you!

Hi,

I don’t understand how this relates to my issue. Can you please elaborate. We need to embed Tablepress tables into our news articles.

Hello!

I saw that you are using an extra plugin for that too, that’s why I said that we have the feature in our theme now.
As for the sidebar, you can unset the sticky column and won’t overlap there again.

Thank you!

What do you mean by “unset the sticky column”?

Hello!

Edit the page with the tagdiv Composer, click on the second column, and uncheck the sticky option.

Thank you!

Hi,

The sticky option was/is not active for the column in our post template, so we cannot deactivate it. There must be something else responsible for the issue.

Hello!

Then the issue is related to the plugin you are using to add the ads. Please check!

Thank you!

Hi,

We have disabled all ads on the sample post which we shared to demonstrate the issue:
https://winbuzzer.com/2020/02/11/microsoft-deepspeed-with-zero-can-train-100-billion-parameter-ai-models-xcxwbn/

Everything works fine on pages where I embed taxopress tables, and ads are no issue there:
https://winbuzzer.com/ai/models/

This is a specific issue that only affects posts/articles. We have set up the post template exactly the same like the page template we are using.

Hello!

You can see the whole table with this help: https://app.screencast.com/twIR0nureDXGE
Or you can add a new row stretched and add the content so that the width will be increased.
We have some settings for the rows and different stretch sizes: https://www.screencast.com/t/bsbB5P97A

Thank you!

Hi,

This is also not about the problem that I described.

Let me define it again in other simpler words:

– The table embed does not work correctly in posts as it expands the post content column width, which it should not
– It works on pages as expected
– for pages and the posts template I use the exact same settings

-> The problem is just about the post content column width, which changes on posts when a table is added via shortcode.

Hello!

Why can’t you change the column width from the tagdiv Composer?

Thank you!

Hi,

I don’t know how to better explain the issue. Everything is defined well in tagdiv composer – as can be seen in other posts.

posts without Taxopress table:
https://winbuzzer.com/2025/02/28/microsofts-new-bioemu-1-ai-model-can-predict-how-proteins-move-and-change-xcxwbn/

post with Taxopress table – breaks the defined post content column width:
https://winbuzzer.com/2020/02/11/microsoft-deepspeed-with-zero-can-train-100-billion-parameter-ai-models-xcxwbn/

page with Taxopress table – everything fine:
https://winbuzzer.com/ai/models/

Hello!

Understood now. Please address the issue to the Tablepress support team.

Thank you!
