Hi TagDiv,

I want to use WP Content Copy protection and No right Click plugin. Will this plugin slow down the page loading speed and also, If I use this plugin will it be problem for google to crawl my website? As, I want my website with full content protection, what are the other options that I can use besides this.

Thanks,
Aditya

Hi,

Unfortunately we haven’t tested the theme using that plugin so I’m not aware of its functionality and settings and can’t provide an accurate answer on this however I suggest you try it and test your site’s speed and use google’s webmaster tools : https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/4559176?hl=enhttps://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6066467?hl=en&ref_topic=6066464&rd=1

Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have any content protection option so the use of a plugin for this is recommend here. Not sure of it helps much or if you are aware of it but WordPress also has this content visibility feature: https://codex.wordpress.org/Content_Visibility
Hope this helps!

Thanks

Also be aware there is no way to prevent people copying your content if it loads in a web browser; you can try to block some content being “scraped” — but this also means not having RSS feeds, and if Google can’t read the page, you will be doomed in SERPS. So, you obviously would want to “test” any such plugin and then in Google’s developer tools do the various “load as Google” to see HOW the bot sees your page — if Google can read it you should be fine; of course if Google’s bot can read the page so can others.

How extreme do you want to be ? Are you going to block archive.org ?

For many folks, having strong copyright notices, creative commons logo, and doing periodic searches online can help track down content pirates. There is nothing to stop somebody from rewriting your content, though. If you properly copyright your website (e.g., in the U.S. with the copyright office), you can file a DMCA complaint to have some pirates content removed from Google search results, which is huge deterrent obviously.

And of course, the biggest way to protect content is from a member site where people have to “log in” to view the story; perhaps having teaser for public, and members see the full site.

The ability to “protect” content is a bit of a myth. Disabling right-click doesn’t actually solve anything. For example, SnagIt can capture the full page as an image once it’s in the video buffer in the browser/on screen; Adobe Acrobat DC can capture an entire web page.

Not to scare you, just the facts after 20 years of doing web dev myself. Our company used to actually sell a content protection product called “Mindset Mprotect” for protecting images; and then IE added as “save page as HTML” feature which completely negated some of that. Remember again anything “rendered” in a web browser can be captured as it’s loaded into cache and/or “visible” on a remote device.

Rendering a page in FLASH has some protections, but then you lose most mobile users.

Upshot — be realistic in your goals on the “myth of content protection” with WordPress.
